It’s November and this brings thoughts of gratitude. What are you grateful for?
I am grateful for the weekend visit with my daughter, Becky, Justin and my grandson Ethan. He is 7 months old and babbling, curious, chewing on everything and has the cutest belly laugh. I am also grateful for my son and family, my health, my amazing team and our Brain Soul Success community! I love, love, love my people and that is you!
Today, I want to share some insights on the profound impact that gratitude can have on our brains and our overall mental health—something we can truly embrace as a community.
Recent research reveals that practicing gratitude can lead to significant changes in our brain chemistry. When we express gratitude, our brains release dopamine and serotonin, two neurotransmitters that enhance our mood and promote feelings of happiness. This simple act not only uplifts our spirits but also strengthens the neural pathways associated with positive emotions, making it easier to cultivate joy and resilience over time.
Moreover, gratitude has a remarkable effect on our mental health. It helps reduce feelings of anxiety and depression by shifting our focus from what we lack to what we have. By recognizing the positives in our lives, we create a buffer against stress, leading to improved emotional regulation and a greater sense of peace.
At a deeper level, embracing gratitude nurtures our soul. It fosters a sense of connection—both to ourselves and to the world around us.
As we continue to grow and support one another in our journey, let’s make gratitude a cornerstone of our daily practice. I recommend keeping a gratitude journal.
I started a Gratitude journal 30 years ago and it sure helped me elevate my life and create and grow two successful businesses.
Thank you for being such a vital part of our community. Together, let’s cultivate gratitude and watch as it transforms our minds and enriches our souls.
If you are stuck and have difficulty cultivating a grateful mind, let’s connect! I have 3 spots open this week.
