In the latest episode of The Brain Soul Success Show, I had the pleasure of speaking with Dr. Paul Rivera, an extraordinary coach and co-founder of BEAC Change. Paul has an impressive background in academia, diplomacy, and international economics, but what truly stands out is his passion for helping individuals and teams unlock their potential by discovering their unique superpowers. In this episode, we discuss how you can lead with your strengths and align with your deeper purpose to create real change in your life and in the world.
The Power of Knowing Your Superpower
Paul’s journey began in a blue-collar Latino family in Los Angeles, where he always felt a drive to create something different for himself. That drive ultimately led him to become a professor and international diplomat before transitioning into coaching. Along the way, he discovered that everyone has a unique “superpower” – a gift they bring to the world. But often, those superpowers go unrecognized or underutilized because we’re not aligned with our purpose.
Paul explains that knowing your superpower is key to stepping into your full potential, whether you’re leading a team, running a business, or just trying to find more fulfillment in life. He believes that when individuals identify and lean into their strengths, they can create a ripple effect that brings positive change to their communities and beyond.
How to Identify and Use Your Superpower
One of the most impactful parts of our discussion was when Paul shared his process for helping people and teams discover their superpowers. He starts by asking the simple but profound question: “What is your gift to the world?” From there, it’s about exploring the ways your unique strengths can contribute to the bigger picture.
Paul has worked with second graders all the way up to corporate teams, and the results are consistently inspiring. Even children as young as seven or eight have an innate understanding of their gifts and how they can make a difference. The challenge, he says, is that as we grow older, society often teaches us to ignore or downplay these strengths.
By bringing people back to their core truth, Paul helps them embrace their authentic power and apply it in practical, actionable ways. Whether you’re leading a corporate team or trying to navigate your personal journey, this process of discovering and living in alignment with your superpower can transform the way you show up in the world.
Real-Life Transformations Through Alignment
Paul’s work doesn’t stop at helping individuals discover their superpowers—he also helps teams and organizations realign their missions to achieve greater success. In the episode, he shared an incredible story of working with a large corporation in Ohio that was struggling with internal communication and underperformance.
By focusing on each individual’s strengths and fostering open communication, Paul helped the team reorganize itself in a way that honored everyone’s contribution. The results were remarkable: the company not only recovered its lost investments but surpassed its previous performance goals, all while creating a healthier, more collaborative work environment.
Tapping Into Your Intuition
One of the most interesting parts of our conversation was when Paul talked about intuition. He revealed that reconnecting with his intuition has been one of the most powerful tools for both his personal and professional success.
By practicing breathwork and learning to quiet the noise around him, Paul has learned to listen to that inner voice—the one that’s always guided him from his early dreams of traveling the world to the impactful work he does now. It’s a practice he encourages everyone to adopt, as it helps you stay aligned with your truth and trust the decisions you make along the way.
Celebrating the Wins
Paul also shared a fantastic tip about creating a “celebration calendar.” It’s something he recommends to his clients as a way to acknowledge and celebrate even the smallest wins every single day. By writing down your successes—no matter how small—you reinforce the positive progress you’re making and build momentum over time.
This practice helps you stay motivated and reminds you that every step forward, no matter how small, is worth celebrating.
At the heart of our conversation, Paul’s message is clear: discovering your superpower and aligning with it is not only the key to personal fulfillment but also to making a meaningful impact in the world. When you embrace your unique gifts, you can lead with confidence, foster better relationships, and ultimately create the life and business you’ve always dreamed of.
If you haven’t already, I highly encourage you to listen to this episode and start thinking about your own superpower. What gifts are you bringing to the world, and how can you align more deeply with them?
